Beginning in 1927, the Swiss government began strategically placing thousands of fire hydrants throughout the country to ensure that every town would have access to water in the case of an emergency. Each of these hydrants was identified by a specific number.

After 15-25 years of service, a hydrant must “retire” in order to make way for a new one. However, we believe these original Swiss hydrants should not to be forgotten…

In order to give each hydrant a second life, we are hand-crafting belts, using their numbered plaques as belt buckles.

Each buckle was a part of history and, throughout the years, created its own unique story. This story lives on through StreetBelt and, by wearing an original StreetBelt, through you……
